Portugal beat Republic of South Korea in Group B opener

Portugal put themselves in pole position to qualify from Group B following a 3-0 win over the Republic of South Korea. Captain Vitor Vilarinho opening the scoring on 11 minutes when his well taken corner went straight to the net. However Portugal did not have it all their own way as a well drilled Korea team put up a good fight. They restricted Portugal to very few opportunities for the next 30 minutes of the game being led by excellent left back Beomjum Choi.

With 15 minutes to go Korea's goalkeeper made a great save but unfortunately for him the ball broke to Portugal's centre forward Tiago Ramos who had an easy finish to the Korean net. A third goal soon followed as Portugal comfortably closed out the remainder of the game to secure the valuable 3 points.

The next game in the 3 team group sees Venezuela take on Korea tomorrow.
