San Luis welcomes the World
NewsSan Luis has opened its doors to host the 2017 IFCPF World Championships and the teams have received a wonderful and warm welcome to this wonderful city in Argentina
The first day of the competition got off to a bad start as severe weather conditions prompted the organising committee to suspend the first three matches. The opening ceremony was a beautifully organised event and as the rain stopped just in time, the first match between Argentina and Portugal could go ahead in the new Stadium La Pedrera.
The first few days of the competition were characterised by a lot of excitement, disappointments as well as many surprises. Countries like Japan have shown tremendous development since their first participation in the World Championships in 2015. Canada, USA and England’s development since 2015 has also been noted, and looking at England’s performances in the first round, it is possible that they could be a contender for a medal in the final round.
As always, good sportsmanship is prevalent among the teams, and it is incredible to experience how Football once again overcomes barriers of language and culture.
