IFCPF Club World Cup Day Three: FECPC champions, defeat SJK 6-1
NewsFECPC has gained an unassailable lead at the top of the 2024 IFCPF Club, with a 6-1 win over SJK they will top the table.
With two wins from two, six points is enough for FECPC to rest easy, with FC Storebælt's clash with SJK on Sunday unable to influence the summit.
A second Alejandro González hat-trick in as many days took the game away from their Finnish counterparts, as FECPC's number seven continued a fantastic individual tournament.
Two early goals for the hosts, one each from Alejandro González and Aketza Requena, set the tone. Both strikes came inside the opening ten minutes, and put Iñaki Requena's team in a great position.
After scoring in SJK's friendly with FC Storebælt, Adel Eid found the back of the net again, with a header from inside the box able to get his team back in the game.
Just as it looked like the scoreline would remain that way into the half-time, an individual piece of brilliance changed that. A mazy run from Alejandro González opened up space for a shot, which whistled into the corner to give FECPC a 3-1 lead.
With tournament supremacy now within reach, the Catalan side were determined not to let the opportunity pass them by.
Aitor Ariño's first goal of the tournament, closely followed by another from Aketza Requena and the third from Alejandro Gonzalez, made sure of proceedings, meaning FECPC became champions of the tournament for the first time.
