IFCPF Day Two: Alejandro Gonzรกlez stars, FECPC start with a win

News

Three goals from Alejandro Gonzรกlez has helped propel FECPC to a win in its first game at the 2024 IFCPF Club World Cup, defeating FC Storebรฆlt 11-2.

Guillem Rivera scored with the final kick of the game, one of seven different goalscorers including Cristian Valenti and Mario Sánchez, who both netted twice.

Oliver Larsen was again impressive for the Danish side, again scoring twice after doing likewise a day earlier in the friendly against SJK.

FC Storebælt made five changes from the previous day's encounter, with Kristian Kaastrup and goalkeeper Jakob Teute holding their spots.

FECPC wasted little time getting its tournament started, with Alejandro González, Sánchez, and Eder Requena all scoring inside the first 11 minutes as the hosts raced to a 3-0 lead.

While Larsen's first came a minute later, the lead would grow before half-time, with David González joining several teammates on the scoresheet, before Alejandro and Aketza Requena both found the back of the net.

The completion of Sánchez's brace and Alejandro González's hat-trick came within four minutes of one another, as FECPC made it 10 with under 25 minutes left of the hour.

Larsen's second from a free-kick gave FC Storebælt a slight consolation prize, before FECPC made it 11 with Rivera late strike.

FECPC will return to action tomorrow to round out their tournament against SJK, while the Finnish side will await FC Storebælt on Sunday.
