Ukraine and Russia cruise to semifinal spots

The finallists of the 2018 European Championships had no trouble qualifying for the semifinals on Saturday, Both Ukraine and Russia scored five to upset the Netherlands and Argentina respectively. World number one Ukraine managed to score those goals in the first half alone, Russia neutralized Argentina with four in the first half as well. Australia and Canada both won in the round for places 9-16.

Ukraine were dominant during the whole match and achieved an easy win. Although The Netherlands tried to defence well, the forward players of Ukraine were too strong and scored several goals in the first half. Half time result: 5-0. In the second half Ukraine gave some players rest for the upcoming important matches and saved their strengths for the rest of the tournament. No further goals scored.

Ukraine will face the winner of Brazil-Iran on Tuesday at 21.00.

Russia overpower Argentina

In the first half one of the top favourites played fantastic Football and scored four goals. In the second half both coaches used a lot of substitutes to save energy for the upcoming matches. The match was more even and only substitute Soslan Gazdanov scored the 5th goal for Russia.

Russia will play the winner of the battle between USA and England on Tuesday at 21.10.

Australia and Canada through to matches 9-12

Australia had an easy win against Thailand. They used optimal their physical advantage and scored three goals with headers. Thailand had one excellent opportunity to score but captain David Barber saved the shot on the goal line. At half time Australia were already in the lead with 3-0. In the second half Australia scored two more goals. Final result 5-0.

In the first half both teams didn't take too much risk and however Spain had the most ball possession not many chances were noted. The goal keepers didn't have to come into action that much. Half time result 0-0. In the second half the Spanish goal keeper received a red card in the 43rd minute. After that Canada dominated the match and scored 3 goals in the last six minutes of the game.
