USA and Iran complete quarterfinal line-up

The final day of group play brought us the first draw of the competition, which made sure that the USA qualified to the quarterfinals as the winner of Group B. Opponent Ireland had a chance of progressing, but with Iran playing Finland and winning 12-0, their chances were reduced to nil. Brazil won Group A after a hard fought match against England which saw them through with the slightest margins: 1-0. Germany got the first points of the competition after beating Japan in a closa match: 3-2.
 

The Irish team needed a four goals difference win to go to quarter finals. Both team were very even in the first half. Coach Stuart Sharp had to change his formation already very early in the match because of sa serious injury of one of his players. Nevertheless USA scored the opening goal. Half time: 0-1. In the second half Ireland scored the equalizer. USA got themselves in trouble by receiving a red card in the 38th minute. Ireland had still time enough to score more goals but Team USA did defence excellent with six man. Final score 1–1. USA top of the group and will face England in the quarter finals.

Iran make it to the quarterfinals

It was an easy match for Iran who controlled the match from the beginning to the end. Iran succeeded to finish second in the group behind USA that won the group. Finland will have other opportunities to improve his performance. 

Iran will now play Brazil on Sunday in the quarterfinal.

Brazil win Group A

England faced the match with some important players on the bench because of different reasons but performed a good and intelligent match against the talented Brazilians. A single goal scored by Ubirajara decided the match. 

Germany win first points

Japan and Germany had a great battle for position 3 in the group. The first chance was for the team of Japan. But slowly Germany got more ball possession and scored the opening goal. Half time result 0-1. In the second half Germany doubled the score but Japan immidiately replied with their first goal in the competition. Again Germany made the difference 2 goals but Japan never gave up and came back to 2 - 3. Germany missed a couple of very good chances in the last minutes when Japan tried to equalize. Final result 2-3.
