Withdrawal of Kenyan Team from African Championships
NewsIt is with disappointment that the International Federation of CP Football and Local Organising Committee must announce that the Kenyan team will not be taking part in the 2018 IFCPF African Championships starting, for reasons beyond our control.
As South Africa and Kenya were to be the two participating teams of this event, a revised schedule has now been cretaed to provide opportunity for the South African national team to participate within the SASAPD National Championships.
The event will conclude with a showcase match between the South African team and a select team made up of the top players from each province. In addition, the first ever Female CP Football National Championships will take place between two SASAPD representative teams.
2019 IFCPF World Cup Qualification
As the 2018 IFCPF African Championships is an African regional qualifier for the 2019 IFCPF World Cup, the IFCPF Board will take a decision in due course about how this slot will be filled.
As an inaugral African Championships, it is disappointing that this event could not go ahead, however IFCPF's commitment to developing CP Football in the African region will continue.
IFCPF is currently undertaking international classification for the South African national team and undertaking Classification Research as part of a grant awarded by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).
