Italy - The Netherlands

After 3 days of classification and an impressive opening ceremony the first match in the 2023 IFCPF European Championships kicked off at 9.30. The host nation, Italy, had the privilege to start the tournament against The Netherlands.
The Netherlands immediately had possession of the ball and combined beautifully. The post was hit in the first minute. Italy's goalkeeper kept the Netherlands from scoring with some fantastic saves. In the 13th minute, the Netherlands hit the post again after a distance shot from Sem van Helden. In the 18th minute, the Netherlands finally broke the spell through a beautiful goal from Lorenzo van Calkhoven. Sem van Helden doubled the score in the 19th minute. He also scored the 3rd goal after a corner variant in the 26th minute. Immediately afterwards, the Netherlands increased the score with a header to 4 – 0 by Jeroen Schuitert.
In the second half, the Netherlands continued to build up the score with good attacking play to 1 - 9. All goas scored by Jeroen Saedt. Italy also managed to score from a good attack by Frederico Lovascia
