Scotland champions, Wynne named tournament's MVP

A stirring performance from captain Matthew Wynne has helped Scotland to tournament glory at the 2024 IFCPF Men's World Championships, triumphing over Northern Ireland 4-0.

The versatile leader scored twice and assisted another in an instrumental performance, with Mark Robertson and Jamie Mitchell also netting to give Scotland the trophy.

Returning after being rested in the loss to Italy, Wynne was one of six changes, as the likes of Martin Hickman, Mark Robertson and Jamie Mitchell were among those who returned to the fold.

Robertson combined with Wynne to work the opener, the skipper striking from outside the box to put Scotland in front, before Mitchell drove the ball into the top left corner to double the lead.

Straight from kick-off, Scotland won the ball back and Robertson then received, finishing past Paul Cassidy. A missed penalty from Martin Hickman hardly dampened the mood, and Scotland went 3-0 up at half-time.

Another Wynne goal completed the scoring, with the full-time whistle leading to great celebrations from Scotland's supporters and staff. The captain then also scooped up the MVP honour, given to the best player at the tournament.
