IFCPF Club World Cup Day One: Late flurry sees Storebælt and SJK unable to be separated
A late Adel Eid equaliser ensured SJK did not start its time in Barcelona with defeat, drawing 3-3 with FC Storebælt.
The goal came 40 seconds after Oliver Larsen had put the Danish team in front, part of an individual second-half brace as Brian Levi Clemmensen’s team battled back from 2-0 down at half-time.
Things had got off to the perfect start for SJK, as two goals in five minutes from Finnish legend Ville Kuronen had his team in the ascendancy early.
When it came, FC Storebælt’s response was as swift, with a Larsen penalty and Mads Christian Fomsgaard both netting within the same timeframe to restore parity, the latter finding the bottom corner with a wonderful free kick.
Larsen’s second looked to have won it when he bundled the ball home with five minutes to play, but Eid's goal less than minutes later put paid to that, a great strike from just forward of halfway.
No competition points were awarded, with the competition proper to get underway with FC Storebælt's clash with FECPC on Thursday, with the game to kick off at 7 pm.
