SPAIN - UKRAINE

Note: player #5 Dembik Bohdan started as FT1. After the classifiers of IFCPF observed the match he has been classified again on Sunday 10th and got the status FT2.

The 2024 IFCPF World Cup started with a minute of silence to commemorate the victims of the flood disaster in Spain.
In the first half, Spain was equal to the favorite Ukraine. Although the reigning world champions had more ball possession, they managed to create few real chances. Spain's positional play was well taken care of. Towards the end of the first half, the spaces became bigger and chances arose at both ends. It was Ukraine who scored first. After a nice attack, the Ukrainian striker hit the crossbar in the 22nd minute, after which the rebound was shot hard by Vitalli Romanchuk. The first goal of the World Cup was a fact. The result did not change until half-time. Half-time score 0 - 1.
The second half started with a lot of ball possession from Ukraine and that quickly resulted in the 0-2 by Oleh Len. It seemed as if Spain's resistance had been broken. Ukraine calmly passed the ball around until an opening was created. Oleh Len again scored with a beautiful shot the 0-3. Spain tried to do something back with two long shots and a well-executed attack but without result. In the extra time Oleh Len scored a hattrick and brought the score to 0 - 4.
