JAPAN - AUSTRALIA

The second match in the women's tournament between Australia and Japan started at 14:30. Australia, number 1 on the ranking and number two in the previous edition of WC football, was the stronger team. The Aussies showed that they are one of the favorites for the final victory. With some excellent attacks they managed to score through a goal by AnnMarie De Uriate. 1 - 0. Just before half-time, surprisingly good playing Japan hit the crossbar.
Half-time score 0 - 1
In the second half, however, the difference in strength became too big. Japan could no longer stop the many attacks of Australia and the Aussies built up the score with 3 goals by Bec Jones, Kaitlyn Smith (p) and Eloise Northam
Final score 6 - 0
