IRELAND - JAPAN

This closely-fought, competitive game was a great watch for those that came to support the fifth game of this Women's World Cup. An early goal in each half gave Japan a 2-0 lead, and thanks to a number of great saves by Mai Ohta in the Japan goal, Ireland had to keep working hard to try and find a goal. They found 2 in one minute as their Captain, and current top goalscorer for the competition, Heather Jameson brought the score level. Ireland continued to pressure Japan and were rewarded when Jameson scored her hattrick goal in the 45th minute. A final goal by Jameson, scored directly from a goal kick gave Ireland a 4-2 win.
